Applications Open for Women Journalists for International Reporting Fellowships, International Women's Media Foundation (Deadline: December 20, 2014)

The IWMF is now accepting applications from women journalists to participate in one of two international reporting fellowships, both tentatively scheduled to take place February 13-23, 2015. As part of its African Great Lakes Reporting Initiative, the IWMF will lead delegations of six journalists each to Rwanda and Ugandato cover underreported economic and rural development issues.
The first three days of the fellowship will consist of comprehensive security training and briefings by regional experts. Participating journalists will participate in one week of in-country independent reporting as well as group activities, and will have the opportunity to interact with key multi-sector stakeholders as well as local journalists. The IWMF pays for fellowship-related expenses including travel, lodging, meals and fixers/interpreters unless a selected journalist’s news organization wishes to assume these costs.
  • Eligibility Criteria

    Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

    - Applicant must be a women journalist

    - Must have at least 3 years professional experience in journalism. Journalists working in print, broadcast, or digital media, including freelancers, are eligible.

    - Non-native English speakers must have excellent written and verbal English skills in order to fully participate in and benefit from the program.

    - Applicant must be able to demonstrate support from an editor or have a proven track record of publication in prominent media outlets.

Application deadline for the upcoming reporting trips to Rwanda and Uganda is December 20, 2014.
